My birthday present = Tippy's present

While I was getting my new TV installed, something else was getting installed at the same time....a new storm door!

Yes, my awesome dad, who I might have mentioned a time or two can do anything, came up and installed a storm door for me for my birthday present. That's the one thing I asked for my birthday....a storm door with a doggy door so Tippy can come and go as she pleases and I don't have to get up all the time and let her out cuz I'm THAT lazy. Wait....when did MY birthday presents start revolving around a 6 pound fur ball?

And in case you're wondering, the door did not come with the doggy door built into it. My dad didn't like any of those doors so he found a door that met his approval (it had to have a deadbolt what was secure and safe enough for myself and his spoiled grand-dog). Then we bought a doggy door and he cut a hole in the door and installed the doggy door. It wasn't as quick of a process as he figured it would be. In the words of my Granny, "Bless his heart!"

It took Tippy a day or two to really get used to it but she finally mastered it and has gotten pretty graceful, might I add. Here are a couple action shots....

And when she's not busy going in and out of her new found freedom, she's doing a little bit of this...

And a little bit of this....

So I have to tell you....I've always said Tippy wasn't the sharpest needle in my sewing box but she's starting to prove me wrong. Pre-storm door, I would always stand at the door and watch Tippy go pee pee and poo poo (which you can see here) then if she did her business, she would get a treat. Well, since she now goes on her own freewill and I'm not watching her, she's realized that she's not getting as many treats. So there have been times that she sits in front of the TV, stares at me and even whines! I tell her to go on outside and she will not go until I physically get up, stand by the door and watch her potty. Then she prances back in the door saying "I get a treat! I get a treat! I got Mommy off her lazy @$$ and I get a treeeeaatt!" Ok maybe she didn't say the dirty word but she said everything else. She knows she'd get a whoopin' and get her stinky mouth washed out with soap if she uses that foul language!

YSVNM (Yard Sale Virgin No Mo')

This may come as a shocker, but I don't think I had ever been to a yard sale until last weekend. (Yes, this post is a little late.) I may have been when I was younger and don't remember, but I know I haven't been to one in my adult life.

My co-worker was having one at a friend's house so I thought I would check it out. This is what I left with!

Let's start at the top left corner: 4 really nice beer glasses, 3 canisters, 2 pictures for a little girl's room (I have plans for these), 3 gold frames, a mini muffin pan, and the rest are stamps for my new card making hobby. Apparently, I spent big bucks for a yard sale. I left with all this stuff for just $15.25. Not too shabby. So I have a project that I'm working on with the 2 pink frames (hint: they're not pink anymore!) and I'm thinking about painting the gold frames silver and doing something with them in my bedroom. Who knows, that may change.

So the next morning, I went to Chick-fil-a to get some chicken mini's for breakfast. If you've never had them, then I feel reeeeeaally bad for you. As I was pulling in my neighborhood, I saw a sign that said "Yard Sale & Bake Sale". Whaaaat? You had me at Bake Sale! So I drove around my neighborhood twice searching for this yard sale and stumbled upon another yard sale. While I was there, I found these 3 kitchen utensils. Ya'll know I don't cook but I need more kitchen stuff for when I do cook and yard sales are the best places to get them. So I got a strainer thingy, another thingy to get spaghetti out and a potato masher. And that thing in the bottom of the picture? It was a cookie that I got at the Yard Sale/Bake Sale.

Let's take a closer look. It's a chocolate chip cookie with crushed Butterfinger on top and white chocolate and milk chocolate drizzled on top. Yeaaaahhh, it didn't stand a chance.

Tippy Tuesday

Daydreaming that hopefully one day she will be that one girl who has 25 men vying for her love.

Welcome me to the 21st century!

Ya'll know how much I love me some TV. So you might wonder why I have a TV like this....

Check out the depth on this bad boy.

In case this makes you want to go out right this minute and hunt one of these down, it's a Zenith.

Well, this TV was my Granny's and when she died 6 years ago, she wanted to make sure I got this TV because I was the only grandchild that didn't have a big screen. So even though this TV didn't have the best picture, I vowed to use it until it was no mo'. I had a feeling about a month ago that it was climbing into its death bed so I went ahead and started doing a little bit of TV window shopping. Fast forward about 5 weeks later and this happened.....

So the next day, I went to get the TV I spotted last month. Unfortunately, they didn't have any in stock but they could deliver it to me on Friday......it was only Tuesday. Thank God I had other TVs that could hold me over until then. Friday came and TA-DA!!

If you can't tell, I like to use Tippy to demonstrate how big things are in real life. Or I could just tell you that I got a 50" Panasonic Viera 1080p Plasma HDTV. As for the TV stand, that's actually just my coffee table that I pushed up against the wall. I was going to search for an old buffet on Craigslist that I could fix up but I think I like my coffee table as a TV stand. I've been wanting to get a new coffee table anyway because this one is a bit too traditional for my taste. But I'm thinking about painting it a bright color so that it doesn't look so traditional. The shelf below is perfect for my cable box and DVD player. I'll keep you updated if I decide to paint it.

As exciting as a new TV can be, I gotta say that I was pretty sad to get rid of the old TV for obvious reasons. This was the last gift that my Granny ever gave to me and I can't say that I didn't shed a few tears to see it go out. At least I have the new and improved vanity of hers that my dad fixed up for me!

**Shout out to Stephen for helping me find this TV at an awesome price**

Tippy Tuesday

The aftermath of partying too much over the long Memorial Weekend......

Oh &%#$!! The Big 3-0!

Yep, the title pretty much sums up how I feel about turning 30. I turned 30 on Wednesday and I'm not doing too well with this but what can I do besides suck it up and try to go on, as I'm pulling out gray hairs from my head, walking hunched over from back aches and forgetting a few names along the way.....and yes, all of those things have happened to me in the last month.

In the past, I've always counted down the days with excitement until my birthday. "Only (fill in the blank) days until my birthday!!" This year, I've said the exact same thing but in a pouty tone and on the verge of tears. But with my pain, comes your enjoyment: A list of 30 things about this old fart. Just like I did last year for my 29th birthday, which you can read here and of course, the list I did for Jenny on (what would've been) her 30th birthday. Don't expect a list of 31 things next year because I don't know how many more things I can of about myself. Shocking, I know.

Dim the lights, here we go!

1) #17 from last year's list states that I've never had a cavity. Well guess what happened in the last 365 days?? Yep, I got my first freakin' cavity. Just. Lovely. My dentist said it was teeny tiny but it was still a freakin' cavity. Ok, maybe he didn't say freakin' but I have a hard time saying the c-word now without adding an expletive before it.

2) I had my tonsils removed when I was 26 years old. Oh, to be in my 20s again! It's true, it's much worse to have it done when you're older but thanks to having an awesome doctor and eating solid foods on the second day, I healed up pretty quickly. I had to be off work for 2 full weeks and sleep propped up so I wouldn't choke on my blood and die. But overall, it wasn't as bad as I was afraid it would be. Plus, it was pretty nice having my mom take care of me :)

3) I have TMJ and can only open my mouth about 2/3 the way. I've worn a splint, I've had physical therapy and even a procedure done to flush out the joint but nothing worked. My jaw is just stuck. Sometimes, I have to smash my food down to fit it in my mouth. And yes, I had it when I got my tonsils out too. Ouch.

4) Let's talk closet. I like my closet color coordinated and grouped by category: Tank tops, long sleeve shirts, short sleeve shirts, and so on. It makes it so much easier to find what I'm looking for. As far as hangers, I like all my hangers to match and I have a certain section in my closet where I keep empty hangers. I don't just yank a shirt off a hanger and leave it there. I take the hanger down, take the shirt off, and put it in the empty hanger section of my closet. That way, I don't have to dig through my closet to find an empty hanger.

5) I got my tongue pierced when I was in college. My roommate and I were out running errands during sorority recruitment and we decided that we would go get something pierced. She wanted her belly button pierced and since I didn't weigh 88 pounds like she did and knew I wouldn't be flashing my belly button, I went for the tongue for two reasons 1) I knew I would lose weight because I would have a hard time eating for a few days and I was right! I lost 6 pounds in 3 days! 2) The piercer said it was the least painful piercing you could get and believe it or not, it really didn't hurt. I took it out after I graduated from college since I figured I needed to be more professional.

6) Speaking of piercings, the piercing in my left ear is lower than the piercing in my right ear.

7) I have a tattoo of a cross that I designed myself about 5 or 6 years ago that's on my hip.

8) If I had my choice of pulling into the very first parking spot at Wal-Mart or parking next to the cart return, I'd pick the one next to the cart return any day!

9) When I was little, I LOVED the song We Built This City. I played that record so much that it makes my sister cringe to this day when she hears it. Whatta a good song!

10) I get chills when I see other people brushing their teeth.

11) I don't like silence. At my house, I like to sleep with a loud fan on and even at work I listen to the radio on my computer. I feel like I work faster and I'm more productive when I have music playing softly in the background.

12) I'm friends/civil with almost all of my ex-boyfriends. I still talk to couple of them every once in a while and those I don't talk to, I definitely would say hi if I ran into them.

13) When I wash my sheets, I will not get into the bed before showering first. Clean sheets + clean me = aahhhhhh :)

14) When I bathe Tippy, I make sure her blanket is clean whenever she is clean.

15) I absolutely cannot stand when my lips are dry. I have to have lip gloss or carmex on my lips at all times. If I don't, they drive me crazy and I feel like I'm moving my lips awkwardly when I talk. I absolutely have to, have to, have to put carmex on before I go to bed.

16) I've been to so many Mexican restaurants that when I sit down at a non-Mexican restaurant, I come thisclose to saying "Gracias" when they refill my drink.

17) I prefer Coke in a can but Pepsi fountain drinks.

18) Color coding is so much fun!

19) I can sing every single word to Snoop Dogg's Lodi Dodi.....without music.

20) I truly believe dry shampoo was sent from God. Before Dry Shampoo (BDS), I would have to wash my hair every day. Thanks to this can of pure awesomeness, I can go 3 days without having to wash my hair. Just spray on the roots and VIOLA!

21) I have a bad habit of using "air quotes."

22) When I was in college, I knew every single move to NSYNC's Dirty Pop. I remember one time, I had my friend, her boyfriend and his friend over at my apartment and I popped in the video and did the entire dance along with the video. I had to pick their jaws up from off the floor.

23) I absolutely love fashion and I love to see what people put together. You would think that I go shopping a lot but I would rather spend money on buying stuff for my house than on clothes. I did not spend any money on clothes or accessories between Christmas and the end of April, other than a UK Final Four t-shirt. I just take what I have and try to come up with different ways to wear them. However, my closet is pretty much screaming for a refresher. I'm gonna put those gift cards I got for my bday to good use!

24) As far as blogging, I don't feel like I'm the great blogger that I wanted to be. If it weren't for Tippy Tuesdays, I wouldn't have nearly as many posts. What I try to do is have at least one crafty blog post between Tippy Tuesdays, which makes it 2 posts a week. Sometimes that doesn't always happen and when it doesn't, it irks me.

25) When I'm at work, I have to put lotion on my hands every time I go potty and wash my hands. I'm not sure why I don't do it at home. I'm weird. That's the only reason I can think of.

26) I currently have 46 shows set on my DVR, you can see the full list here. This is why I can't ever get any crafty things done! Thanks to some of those shows no longer airing and a couple more canceling, I may be able to get some stuff done this year!

27) Sometimes I dance and shake my booty in Tippy's face just to get a reaction from her. Sadly, she's gotten used to it and just looks at me like I'm crazy. Poor Tippy, she truly lives a hard life.

28) Do you remember when we were little and if we were drinking a can of pop, we would flip the tab on the can back and forth while saying the alphabet? Then you would think of a last name that began with the letter that it broke off on and you were going to marry that person. Well, I still do this with my cans. Not because it will tell me who I'm going to marry but just because it's fun!

29) I've pulled a couple switcharoos lately. First, I made a bold move and decided to switch my watch from my left wrist to my right. I felt a little lop-sided for a couple of days but realized it was better suited for my lifestyle. Then I decided to start sleeping on the right side of the bed instead of sleeping on the left. It was kinda fun! Hmmm.....what else could I switch?

30) I can't believe I'm 30. I can't believe I'm 30. I can't believe I'm 30. Doesn't 29 sound SO MUCH younger than 30? I had originally planned on spending my birthday in bed all day with the lights off but I ended up having to work in Louisville and I'm glad I did. I was overwhelmed with all the birthday wishes and I got serenaded 4 times (twice from my mom because she didn't think I remembered her singing to me the first time thanks to the margaritas, beer, and 2 shots of tequila the Mexican waiters made me take). Thanks to everyone who made my bday special and that includes the surprise birthday dinner I had last weekend. Love you all!
