Gift bag = Cheap art

If you all want some cheap wall art, all you have to do is stroll down the gift bag aisle at Wal-Mart, Target, or anywhere that sells gift bags. You'll find some really cute bags that will make great art. I snapped a pic of the bags below at Target just to show you some of the cute bags that you can easily turn into art.

I guess what got me started on gift bag art was this gift bag that I got on my birthday. I absolutely fell in love with this bag! I knew right away that I would not be recycling it and giving it to somebody else, like I usually do with gift bags.

Do you remember these pictures I bought at my first yard sale a few weeks ago? I knew exactly what I wanted to do with them. :)

So I went to Lowe's and picked up some sanding pads to rough up the frames, which were wood. Then I picked up some primer and gold metallic spray paint.

The frame after primer.

I love how the metallic paint makes the wood frames look like metal.

After the frames were finished, I went back to my beautiful gift bag. Since the print was on both sides of the bag, I cut off the sides and trimmed around the design.

Then I picked up some green scrap book paper and placed the design on the paper.

It's definitely far from perfect but that's the beauty of it! I'm thinking these will look cute in my craft room if ever get it cleaned out and painted.....
