Tippy Tuesday

I get daily emails from this website called Haute Look which sends daily deals from different companies. I was checking out their deals and came across a company that had super cute clothing for dogs. I was browsing their doggy dresses discovered that either someone photoshopped a pic of Tippy as a pup or she has a double out there...

Faux Tippy

Real Tippy

They're both black, with white chests, and white on the tips of their paws. Faux Tippy has a funky ear going on but you get the point. Hey, I could have a money-maker on my hands!

Tush Cush(ion)

In true Shari fashion, I'm typing this post about a month or two too late. I think I'm starting to live by the motto "Better late than never!"

When I moved here last year, I threw out my old cushions because they were getting a bit grimy. I went the entire summer sitting on my white wicker chairs sans tush cushion. I decided I wasn't going to go another summer letting my booty go numb so off to Pier 1 I went! I found these striped cushions and loved the bright and fun colors.

And if I'm not in a stripey mood, I can flip 'em over to the flowery side.

Let's be honest here......the main reason I picked out those cushions was because it had a coordinating PEACOCK pillow. I think I may have mentioned my love for the peacock so this was a no-brainer. He's so fun. But are you wondering what he's laying on????

Well, it's my new lounge chair.

I have been searching for a lounge chair that I can catch some rays on. I was actually looking for something really cheap like those fold-up chairs made out of that cheap rubbery tubing. But I could not find them anywhere! I could only find a chair-chair but not a lounging chair. I kept seeing this chair at Bed, Bath & Beyond but for $129.00, it was a bit out of my price range. BUT, do you remember those zebra print panels that I got for Christmas that I took back? I ended up getting $84 in store credit for them. So I thought, if I use my store credit, and my 20% coupon (FYI their coupons never expire), I could probably get it for about 30 bucks. So I went to the store and low and behold, it was marked down to $104.99. YESSSSS!! I used my in-store credit, my 20% coupon, and I found a gift card that had a dollar and some change left on it. After all that, you will never guess how much I ended up paying for it!.........Oh, just $2.24. Yep, I paid 2 bucks for a $130 chair! That, folks, is what you call The Deal Of The Century!!!

Tippy Tuesday

Tippy doesn't quite understand the concept of hide and seek. She thinks that because I can't see her eyes, I can't see her nose sticking out from under the couch either. Oh Tippy......

Tippy Tuesday

I was standing in the bathroom mirror getting ready and had an eerie feeling that someone was watching me.....

Gift bag = Cheap art

If you all want some cheap wall art, all you have to do is stroll down the gift bag aisle at Wal-Mart, Target, or anywhere that sells gift bags. You'll find some really cute bags that will make great art. I snapped a pic of the bags below at Target just to show you some of the cute bags that you can easily turn into art.

I guess what got me started on gift bag art was this gift bag that I got on my birthday. I absolutely fell in love with this bag! I knew right away that I would not be recycling it and giving it to somebody else, like I usually do with gift bags.

Do you remember these pictures I bought at my first yard sale a few weeks ago? I knew exactly what I wanted to do with them. :)

So I went to Lowe's and picked up some sanding pads to rough up the frames, which were wood. Then I picked up some primer and gold metallic spray paint.

The frame after primer.

I love how the metallic paint makes the wood frames look like metal.

After the frames were finished, I went back to my beautiful gift bag. Since the print was on both sides of the bag, I cut off the sides and trimmed around the design.

Then I picked up some green scrap book paper and placed the design on the paper.

It's definitely far from perfect but that's the beauty of it! I'm thinking these will look cute in my craft room if ever get it cleaned out and painted.....

Tippy Tuesday

There is an adorable little pet store here in Richmond that has a "greeter" that has a striking resemblance to Tippy.

Her name is Josie and, just like Tippy, she's a black chihuahua with a white chest and a little bit of white on her feet. However she lacks the overbearing under-bite. Well last week was Josie's 5th birthday and the owner had a little party at the store.....cupcakes, punch, and 10% off your purchase! And because we all know Tippy is the avid card maker, she made a card for Josie.

We tried to get a shot of the 2 of them but it wasn't so easy.

Happy Birthday Josie!!

Update: The List

Do you remember when I made The List? Well, it's been 6 months and, as promised, I'm back to give you an update on how I'm doing on the home front. I'll go ahead and tell ya....not so well. As I figured, I have added some things added to the list (in green), taken things off the list (in red) and even marked off a few (crossed off). You can thank my love of color coding for that! So without further adieu....

Master Bedroom:
  • Buy drapery hardware and hang window treatments. See here.
  • Touch up dresser and add knobs
  • Buy lamps. See here.
  • Take apart snow leopard fur pillows and make it into a throw for the end of the bed
  • Buy/make wall art

Master Bath:

  • Paint
  • Add cabinet hardware
  • Buy/make wall art
  • Add new decorative frame on the existing mirror. You probably have no idea what I mean but in my head, it looks pretty :)

Kitchen:

  • Add cabinet hardware

Dining Room:

  • Buy new rug...perhaps a natural woven jute rug
  • Find new (cheap) table top decor

Living Room:

  • Add decorative shelves above sofa and accessorize (I'm not sure I'm going to go with the shelves anymore. I'm afraid of something falling off the shelves and bonking myself or Tippy in the head. I might need to go with a more secure route, like a random photo/art display.)
  • Find throw pillows
  • Buy rug In case you're wondering....no, I haven't shown you yet.
  • Get new coffee table since the old one is now a TV stand
  • Spruce up the existing lamp
Guest Bedroom:
  • Make headboard
  • Accessorize nightstands
  • Hang window treatments
  • Raise bed (nightstands are a little tall but I love them....sacrifices, people, sacrifices)
  • Find white piece of furniture (or something I can paint white) to put TV on.
  • Make/buy wall art

Guest Bathroom:

Craft Room:

  • EVERYTHING! I can't even walk in there right now. It's an unorganized mess that makes my head hurt.

Hall:

  • Print pictures/art, frame and hang.
  • Find buffet on Craigslist or have daddy build me one :)

So there ya have it! Proof of how much of a slacker I've been. But don't worry, I see more time in my future to tackle these projects since ABC is cancelling BOTH of my soaps! All My Children is being cancelled in September and One Life to Live will air its final episode in January. Considering it takes me about 40 minutes to watch one episode (fast-forwarding thru commercials), I spend over 6 1/2 hours a week JUST watching soap operas. That's not including all the primetime shows I watch at night. I know, I'm pathetic....at least that's what I've been told :) So I see lots of time to finish these projects in 2012!
